Build the argument before the template
Decide what the panel should remember and which evidence supports it. Slides are not a miniature report. Their number depends on duration, complexity and university requirements.
Create a coherent sequence
Move from the problem and objective through methodological decisions to findings, interpretation and limits. Give each slide a main message and a transition. Reserve visual space for evidence instead of lengthy background text.
Readable charts and tables
Include units, sample sizes and clear labels. Avoid tiny screenshots of full software outputs. Choose charts for the comparison, preserve honest scales and show uncertainty where appropriate. Check contrast and distance readability; do not rely on colour alone.
Citations, accessibility and delivery
Identify external sources and images, check permissions and review reading order and alternative text. Export a PDF to inspect rendering and keep an editable copy. Test offline links, fonts, proportions and media in the required delivery format.
Review and rehearse
Provide your report, rubric, available time, required template and current slides for a scoped review. Oral defence preparation also covers explanations and questions. Use the rehearsal timer or request a slide review.
